    Celebrating Our Nurses: It’s Not Just a Career;
    It’s a Calling

    May 6 through May 12 is recognized as National Nurses Week, and a time when Sutter Delta Medical Center recognizes and thanks our nurses for their hard work and dedication to positively affecting their patients’ lives.

    Sutter Delta Medical Center employs 375 nurses with 19 specialties:

    1. Emergency Nurses
    2. Labor/Delivery Nurses
    3. Cardiac Cath Lab nurses
    4. Interventional Radiology Nurses
    5. Educational Nurses

    13. Palliative Care/Hospice Nurses
    14. Case Management/Utilization Review Nurses
    15. Administrative Nurses
    16. CCI Nurses
    17. Quality Nurses
    18. Risk Management Nurses
    19. Infection control Nurses

    About National Nurses Week

    The week’s timeline includes several days of recognition:

    ·         May 6        National Recognition Day for Nurses

    ·         May 8        National Student Nurses Day

    ·         May 12      International Nurse Day /
                      Florence Nightingale’s Birthday

    National Nurses Week was first recognized in 1954, when it was observed from Oct. 11 – 16, the 100th anniversary of Nightingale’s mission to Crimea.

    Today, there are nearly 3.1 million registered nurses in the U.S., including 144,200 nurse practitioners, 69,000 clinical nurse specialists, 13,700 nurse midwives and 32,500 nurse anesthetists.
